"What is your favorite part about Wing Ding, Driver?"  I was asked that the other day by Random Person on the Street.  Without hesitation I answered, "Watching my co-workers get drunk."  By co-workers, I don't mean the other people on the air.  I mean the office staff and salespeople.  Throughout my years with this fine establishment that provides me with a nice health benefits package, I have seen many office/salespeople come and go.  And despite their many differences, they all have one thing in common:  they all think they are the funniest people in the world after a day of drinking.  Especially the salespeople.  I don't know why that is so.  It just is.  Anyhow, I divide the backstage people into specific groups:

"The Backstage Free Beer Crowd"
- generally made up of women, this group enjoys the comforts of beer, without the hassle of dealing with people in the Clients/Friends of the Station Tent.  They can generally be found in the backstage building, complete with air conditioning and free food.  The acoustics are just fine for concert enjoyment, and the view of the stage is nice.  They will slowly migrate to just off the stage toward the end of the evening.

"The Clients/Friends of the Station Crowd"
- includes new salespeople, station higher-ups, and any employee unlucky enough to be cornered by The Salesguy That Annoys Everybody.  The beer here is also free, however warmer.  Also, this crowd tends to turn rowdy as the night goes on, seeing as it's the easiest part of backstage for hangers-on to infiltrate (read:  people that want to be my friend).

"Everybody Else" - basically the cool kids table.  I don't know what they do or how they do it, but they end the day in a much better mood than when they started.  Also known to disappear for hours at a time doing "official station business" like hanging out on tour buses, getting autographs on guitars, and getting sweaty in a gymnasium lifting weights with lead singers.  Definitely the group to be in.

"Driver" - part of no group.  Likes to hide.  Stays away from Stone and/or microphones as much as humanly possible.  Looks for boob flashers.

Wing Ding is May 25th.  I can't wait to purposely avoid everybody!
